  1. Well, quite honestly, this article made incredibly angry. Not the content specifically but just the whole idea. The look on those two disgusting human being's faces made me cringe once again for all those who were affected by the shooting. I was surprised that social media was not a part of standard immigrant background checks. If colleges and schools across the nation do it for their reputation alone, why don't we as a nation do it for our own safety. One thing I disagree with is the statement that said that if they had performed a background check and seen the couples post- they may not have been allowed into the country. The article did not reveal specifically what was stated in the post however, it seems likely that there may be others like it with similar ideals out there for all the world to see on social media. I don't like to think about the United States having the ability to prevent the terrible tragedy that already occurred, but rather move forward in preventing another one.

  2. I agree with Lucy whole-heartedly. It the government believes that it is okay for colleges or businesses to check out possible candidates, why can’t possible citizens be screened. The debate over the right to privacy for any American citizen is a very controversial topic. But if we as citizens must go through it, I believe that any one trying to even become a citizen must be upheld to the same code of conduct. What happened was a tragedy, and the fact that there might have been a chance to prevent it is upsetting. The job of the government is to protect its citizens, but how can it do that if the hands that protect us, are tied behind their backs?
