As a very open minded person, I have always been receptive to what the pope has taught. His ambitions for the future of the environment and the impoverished are noble and exciting, however, they aren't very feasible and they don't consider all sides of the issue. For example, the article mentioned that individuals living at the poverty level in America have the same living conditions that an individual in the upper middle class would enjoy in Mexico. Instead of focusing on asking America to help its own poor by adopting a socialist economic system, we should focus on extending our hand to the indigent in poorer countries. The capitalist economic system that America currently has in place is helping our poor stay considerably above the poor in other countries. As a consequence, we should use our resources to help those around the world deserve to enjoy the natural rights that were proposed during the enlightenment period.
