  1. The title of this article says all that needs to be said. This entire situation is incredibly messed up. Adoption was originally intended for an orphaned child to have a home and a family. In today's society, it is legal for a homosexual man to "adopt" his homosexual lover, so that they can have reduced taxes. If anything, this sounds like a tax evasion, not an act of love and generosity... Today's society where "love wins" is becoming slightly distorted. The dipstick legislator of Pennsylvania, Bob Casey, is defending the rights of these two men. It is interesting, though, because Bob Casey went to a Catholic high school and two Catholic colleges. His defense for the LGBTQ community contradicts everything he was taught growing up.

  2. I agree with Mal that the whole issue is absurd. I think the real issue should be that an adult is allowed to adopt another adult. Adoption is meant for children who are in need of a loving home to be brought it. People using adoption to get out of taxes is just an example of them taking advantage of the system and turning an incredible thing into some way to cheat their way out of taxes. Many people worked hard for many years to get gay marriage legalized and now that it is these two men are trying to rescind their initial idea and try to adopt the virtues of marriage, but it is wrong on so many different levels for a father to marry his adopted "son". The fact that this is being debated is enraging to me and I think the two men should not be able to marry and have to live with their decision of adoption.

  3. Just looking at the title, I was a little disgusted about what I might find after reading the article, however, my opinion changed. What I don't understand is how Nino Esposito was allowed to adopt his adult gay lover just to save money on future inheritance taxes, but we have to keep in mind that this was before gay marriage was legal and gay people had less rights. It sounds like one of them got adopted to save money but because they were not allowed those equal rights that heterosexual couples have. I guess it sounds weird to most people because when we think of adoptions, we think of children. They did try to annul their adoption so that they could get legally married, but the state does not allow adoption annulments unless there was a fraud involved. That is why the U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and the Obama White House need to issue a ruling on situations like these. Just from reading the title I would not agree with it, but after reading the article I actually agree with it. The laws need to change so that adoptions can be annulled and people can marry their partners. The circumstances of this article may be different now that gay marriage has become legal now.
