In order for America to be great again, we need great leadership. I never truly realized the importance of the presidency. While I study Unit 4, I realize that the presidency is more than just a one-man show. The president hires important cabinet leaders, who in turn lead different aspects of the United States government. America needs a new leader; a leader who envisions a country of prosperity while maintaining the debt crisis. Americans don’t realize how important the debt crisis is. Politicians aren’t doing much about it because the American people don’t care enough. I think a lot of people are scared for this problem to be solved because there would be a lot of budget cuts. These budget cuts come with much suffering for people who rely on the government.
With the 2016 election coming up much faster than we’ll even realize, we need start thinking about the importance of leadership in our nation. I agree with Mary in the sense that the presidency and leadership in this country is not simply a one-man show. Many factors contribute to the success or failure of leaders throughout American history. We need someone, like Nixon, who is willing to talk about the uncomfortable realities happening in our country today, rather than someone who tries to avert and avoid. With the multitude of complex problems happening in society today, we need a leader that can formulate an effective game-plan and execute. The only way we can solve our tough problems is by having a leader who is willing to address them with full honestly. Bluntness, if handled appropriately, can be a good thing and respected.
I agree with Mary and Kelly. Presidency is the single most important job in this country, and we need a leader that can actually tackle the issues going on inside our country and outside. President Obama is trying to take a stand on too many subjects right now, and his international policies are falling apart. The ongoing war on terrorism, our occupation in the Middle East, our attempt push on Russia, and restraint on China can not be handled how dipstick Obama is attempting to. I agree with the author that we need someone with the same mind-set as Nixon or Trump: a cold-eye to internal and external problems would allow these problems to be solved more effectively and efficiently. We need a president (and his team) that is not afraid to bring up and solve the uncomfortable problems in the world. Simply avoid or covering-up these issues, as Barack tends to do, we are never going to make any progress. Make America Great Again!
